Are There Angels Around Us?

Do Angels Really Exist?

This is a question that I am sure many people, including myself, has pondered over on more than one occasion.  Being raised a Roman Catholic, I was introduced to the idea of Angels at a very young age, a concept that was reinforced through-out my church and school years, and continues today.  Angels are depicted everywhere in society, cemeteries and graveyards are full of their conceived likenesses.  Try touring a traditional art gallery where there aren’t one or two paintings of these perfect, winged beings hanging on a wall.  As a child I believed without question that they existed, as an adult I still do, but not blindly.  Looking at the world today and seeing the killings and the hunger it leaves me wondering whether there really is a supernatural being tasked to watch over my every move, to guide me and to protect me.  There are days when I believe and days when I have my doubts.

So, do angels really exist? According to Lorna Byrne whose documentary I happened to stumble upon on YouTube (and has encouraged me to write this multi-part blog) entitled “Lorna Byrne: The Lady Who Sees Angels Documentary Master”, (see below for link), they most certainly do!

Lorna Byrne

Lorna, born 1958 in Dublin Ireland, reports that she continuously sees and communicates with Angels, and has done so ever since she was a baby.  Growing up in Kilmainham and Ballymun, (both suburbs of Dublin), Lorna led a difficult and impoverished life, but is now known as an international bestselling author, with seven books under her belt, and an activist who travels the world telling of her experiences in order to foster peace.

Guardian Angels

Lorna claims that God created the angels, and that she communicates daily with her guardian angel, whom she physically sees.  She also sees ‘our’ guardian angels, stating that each and every one of us has their own guardian angel who love us and never leaves our sides for a moment. Furthermore, these angels protect us because we each carry a piece of God’s light (the soul) within us.  When our mortal body dies, we, the light, are then accompanied by our guardian angel to meet our maker.   As much as I would dearly love to believe this without doubt, I can’t, and for so many reasons, some of which I’ll touch on.

As I write this, the world’s population is at approximately 7.5 billion.  So that means there are an equal amount of Guardian Angels, created by God, on this earth.  This number does not include what Lorna calls “The Unemployed Angels” (angels that are called upon to carry out specific tasks).  My first thoughts are, “Why are we here then? Why does God need us to carry his light?” If there are indeed ove 7.5 billion Guardian Angels here on Earth, why can’t they carry God’s light? What does God need us for?  It can’t just be for company; he has billions of angels for that.  What is so special about us?  We can rule out because God created us, he created them too!

If Guardian Angels protect and guide us, why is there such things as murder, rape, war, poverty, hunger… you get the picture.  I guess one could argue that along with life, we were given the freedom of choice.  The freedom to make our own mistakes, and to learn from them.

Lorna indicates that we, along with the angels, choose our parents before we are born on this earth.  This means to me, and I have heard it argued before, that we are part of the planning process in which we plot a course through life on Earth that will enable us to learn the necessary lessons in order to ascend to the highest level of spiritual existence. What if we don’t learn all of those lessons? Well, to me, that’s where reincarnation comes in to play.

Bringing this subject up is opening a Pandora’s box.  There are so many deep-seated beliefs and fears waiting to spew forward and engulf the messenger, that it takes a special someone to go public with their experiences in this matter.  Thank you, Lorna Byrne, for being one of those people.  I hope we meet one day for I would value your opinion on the million and one questions I have for you.

Ghost Hunter vs Paranormal Investigator

Ghost Hunter and Paranormal Investigator in haunted forest

What is the difference between a Ghost Hunter and a Paranormal Investigator?

This is a question that comes up from time to time, and although, when comparing investigative methods there can be little or no difference between the two.

For the record, I abhor being called a “Ghost Hunter”.

So what is the difference between Ghost Hunters and Paranormal Investigators? The answer is simple. It’s a mindset.

To better explain, you merely have to take look at some of the synonyms for the words Hunter and Investigator:

HUNTERINVESTIGATOR
StalkerExaminer
TrapperInquirer
ChaserReviewer
KillerAnalyst

Are those who call themselves Ghost Hunters so disrespectful that they only see the spirit world as their prey, something to be hunted down for their own amusement?

Joe Cairney CPI

Ghost Hunters

Unfortunately, my first hand and on-line experience has led me to believe that so many self-proclaimed Ghost Hunters are disrespectful of the spirit world.

Their investigative tales show them to be ill-prepared, and who, on a whim, will explode onto a location demanding the spirits (which they find in every noise, shadow, photograph and recording they come across) perform for them like trained monkeys.

It’s my belief that those who call themselves Ghost Hunters do so out of bravado and/or ignorance or both.

Paranormal Investigators

If an individual or team calls themselves Ghost Hunters, and everything written under the previous heading does not apply, then perhaps Paranormal Investigator is a much more accurate term that should be adopted.

Paranormal Investigators are people who are respectful of the afterlife, who are there to communicate with Spirit, and if possible, help if needed. They are people who analyze what is happening around them, and, with an open mind, examine all possible evidence they obtain, rejecting all evidence they are unsure of or that they can replicate. They are people who do thorough research before and after each and every investigation, because at the end of the day they want to be seen as dedicated, professional investigators, who can be called upon to conduct serious paranormal investigations.

North Cornwall Paranormal said it best in a post they published on Facebook:

Being a real Paranormal Investigator isn’t about running around screaming or negatively provoking reactions. It’s about finding break through evidence, seeing beauty in historical places, helping those in need, talking to souls from the past and hearing stories lost in time.”

Is The Antichrist In The White House?

Jared-Kushner Antichrist?

For time and memorial, well at least since the Book of Revelation was first penned, people have pointed an accusatory finger at various luminaries, and crowned them “The Antichrist”.  For whatever reason, some more apparent than others, this dubious title has been bestowed upon the following: Adolf Hitler, Napoleon Bonaparte, Barack Obama, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Henry Kissinger. This is only but seven of hundreds of people who have been accused of being “The False Prophet”.

So, is the Antichrist in the White House?  Well, It appears, for the most part, that when you don the title of Pope, President, or any other World Leader label, you are automatically suspected of such.   That being said, the newest contender for this role is not a world leader, at least not yet anyway, but he does have the President’s ear, as well as his daughter.  Enter world stage right…Jared Kushner, husband of Ivanka Trump and Senior White House Advisor to the President.

Truth be told, it really doesn’t take much to become The Antichrist, in the eyes of some.  Take Ronald Reagan for instance, his accusation was based on his full name, Ronald Wilson Reagan, being code for the number of the beast. Each of his three names consisted of six letters…666.  Speaking of the number of the beast, John F. Kennedy’s accusation was the result of his receiving Democratic approval with 666 votes.

I could go on, but I’ll leave you to follow up on the others if you wish, and we’ll now focus on the reasoning behind the accusations leveled at Kushener.

The Number of the Beast

Revelations 13:18 “Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is 666.”

Kushner Companies, of which Jared is the CEO, paid $1.8 billion for an office block in New York, whose address is 666 Fifth Avenue.  He then invested another $6.6 billion to have it renovated. As most of this money was borrowed, it begs the question, Why was it so important that Kushner purchase this address?

The Mark of the Beast

Revelations 13:16 “Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.”

Housed within 666 Fifth Avenue, is Lucent Technologies who are conducting research into Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) Chips.  These chips carry personal information, and can be implanted into the body. RFID chips are commonly used as tracking devices, and can be found in industries such as the Automotive, Livestock, Sports and Security. There are those who believe that it wont be too long before implanted chips carrying all our data will be commonly used.  In fact, implanting pets and children, should they become lost, is a thriving industry.

Armageddon

A translation of Daniel 9:27  states that the antichrist will confirm a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, and this agreement will mark the beginning of the final seven years to Armageddon.

President Trump has assigned Kushner to attend the Middle East talks and broker a Middle peace deal. But why is this any different from any other time someone has been sent to broker a peace deal in the Middle East.  Well, unlike his predecessors who no doubt spent years studying the middle eastern conflict before  attempting a peace agreement, Jared became “well informed on the Middle East” while waiting ten minutes for a ski-lift to arrive on a slope in Aspen, Colorado.  President Trump has since went on record saying that he wants to reach an agreement before the end of his term in 2021.

Summary

I must admit, out of the host of reasons that I’ve read for calling others “The Antichrist”, the case for Kushner has me on the fence, but leaning greatly towards the “I don’t think so” side.  The reason for my doubt, is that I have this niggling feeling that if Kushner was really him, then why would he be so blatant about it.  Surely, he would go about his business in a subtler manner. And surely, he is aware of the Book of Revelation if not the million and one other books and movies out there giving us the heads-up on what to look out for!

However, is The Antichrist not also known as the Master of Deception. Perhaps being so obvious about it is the best deception of all.

The Case of Valiant Thor

Valiant_Thor
Valiant Thor circa 1957

I wrote the following article about a year ago, for wcpi.ca.  Since that time, I have received several emails from those who believe that the events as written are true, and from those who do not.   As it stands, the “Do Nots”, are in the majority, but not by much.  Therefore, I have decided to re-run this article, with some additions, to get the views of the thatsthespirit.blog readers.  So here it is:

Date: March 16th, 1957
Location: Alexandria, Virginia, USA
Claim: Extraterrestrials Meet with President Eisenhower

The book “Stranger at the Pentagon”, by Frank E. Stranges, claims that on this date, three extraterrestrials from the planet Venus, led by Commander Valiant THOR, landed in a farmer’s field in Alexandria, Virginia. Upon the arrival of Local Police, who were the first to respond, THOR requested to meet with The President, and was whisked away to the Pentagon where he initially met with the Secretary of Defense Neil H. McELROY.

After the meeting with McELROY, THOR was taken to the White House where he met with President EISENHOWER, Vice President Richard NIXON and the Joint Chiefs. It was at this meeting that THOR made it known to the group that he represented an intergalactic High Council, who were worried about the Earth’s nuclear capabilities and the possibility of the destruction of the human race brought about through nuclear warfare. THOR remained on Earth for a period of three years, in what appeared to be an advisory capacity. Although President EISENHOWER wanted to make the arrival and concerns of the extraterrestrials public knowledge, he was persuaded by NIXON and the Joint Chiefs not to do so.

Frank E. Stranges, a federal marshal and chaplain with top-secret security clearance at the Pentagon, claims he had first hand knowledge of this, and in fact had several meetings with Valiant THOR and his companions. STRANGES’ claims have been supported by Harley Byrd, the nephew of Admiral Richard E. Byrd, who worked for the Department of Defense from 1957 to 1963 and was assigned to Project Blue Book, the secret military program that investigated UFO reports, as well as members of President EISENHOWER’s family.

That’s it in a nutshell, The Case of Valiant Thor.

Given the political state of the world today and the ever growing threat of nuclear war, do you think that Valiant Thor and the Intergalactic Council are real or not? If you do believe they are real, is it time for them to step in again, or perhaps, are they currently doing so?

Ghost Adventures – Enough Of The Bullying!

Zak Bagans host of Ghost Adventures

Ghost Adventures is a reality show that premiered on October 17, 2008 on the Travel Channel.  It follows a team of paranormal investigators, led by Zak Bagans, in their pursuit of evidence of the afterlife.

The show is now in its 15th session and I have to ask myself, has there ever been an episode of Ghost Adventures where host Zak Bagans didn’t bully a member of his team?  I honestly can’t recall.  I am sick and tired of watching his abusive behavior and amateur dramatics getting in the way of some solid investigations .  I know what you’re thinking, “Why are you watching then?” Truth be told, I’m enthralled by the cutting-edge technology they use, the places they go, and the evidence they appear to get.  I also appreciate the investigative skills of the rest of the team members, Aaron Goodwin, Billy Tolley, Jay Wasley and not to forget Nick Groff who left the team in 2014.  However, the thug-like antics of Bagans certainly sucks the life out of the show, no pun intended, so much so, that I have relegated the viewing of Ghost Adventures to the category of “If There’s Nothing Better On.”

I did watch an episode a couple of days ago on the DTour Channel. It was first aired on October 15, 2016, and it was entitled, ‘Reseda – House of Evil’.  This show left me deeply disturbed at the new level Bagans had taken his bully-boy tactics to.  Let me explain.

Both Zak Bagans and Billy Tolley are in a house, reputed for its black masses and demons, and indeed have just witnessed a black mass moving inside a room.  Both Bagans and Tolley appear to be visibly shaken as they stand outside in the hall.  Bagans orders Tolley to go into the room.  Tolley refuses.  Bagans again orders Tolley to go into the room, and again Tolley refuses.  Bagans continues to pressure Tolley to enter the room until Tolley finally snaps, yells at Bagans that he can’t do it, and storms out of the house.  Of course, like in so many other episodes, Bagans blames the entity inside the house for his bad behavior.  What really saddened me, was that Tolley assigns blame for his outburst on the entity too, when it was patently clear that he had reached the end of his rope with Bagans.  It left me wondering if Tolley was told to say this in order for Bagans to save face.  Later in this episode, they are once again in the house, and Bagans, instead of stepping up to the plate himself as a true lead investigator would have done in the first place,  orders Aaron to go into the room where the black mass was seen.  Aaron, who is an awesome investigator, and who, unfortunately, is normally on the receiving end of Bagans’ abusive behavior, complies, and gets what appears to be some great evps.  Also in this episode, like a true bully, the cowardly side of Bagans is displayed for all to see, when, believing that the black mass is coming towards them, Bagans runs away and cowers behind Tolley.   Not for the first time I might add.

This type of behaviour is not unusual for Bagans.  His signature approach to investigating the paranormal is to provoke, and when the going gets tough, he voluntells others to put themselves in danger, or he puts them in danger himself.  The episode which aired on September 23, 2017 called “Golden Ghost Town” has a good example of this.

The Ghost Adventures team are reportedly in a ghost town that was once occupied by occultists.  Here, Zak Bagans finds it fitting to lock Aaron Goodwin inside a church after they believe they have witnessed paranormal activity there.  This is done despite Goodwin’s pleas not to do it.  Bagans, on the voice over states that’s Aaron volunteered to be locked in, which was obviously not the case.  Later on camera, Bagans boasts that he and Tolley have locked Aaron in the church, but doesn’t feel he is in any danger.  Aaron, after a while, manages to flee the church by escaping through a window.  Video evidence is then brought forward claiming to show a black mass moving through the church, unseen by Aaron.  So much for not being in any danger!

There are countless other incidents where Bagans bullies and cajoles his team into doing things that he himself is too frightened to do. Bagans is a danger to himself, his team and to the name of reputable paranormal investigators everywhere. Frankly, in this era where we rally against harassment in the workplace, and bullying,  I am surprised that the networks allow this to continue. I’m sure that Aaron, Billy and Jay would make a formidable team and a better show without Mr Bagans.

The Black Knight Satellite – Blanket or Probe

Black Knight Satellite

NASA and naysayers alike would have you believe that it is a thermal cover that was lost during the construction of the International Space Station in December of 1998. On the other hand, Ancient Astronaut Theorists will tell you that it is a 13,000-year-old alien probe that has been sent here to monitor life on Earth.

What is it I’m talking about this week?  None other than the infamous Black Knight Satellite.

I’ve spent a bit of time reading other’s thoughts on the Black Knight Satellite, those for the alien theory and those against.  I’ve also spent an equal, amount of time looking at the NASA photographs, like those on this page, of this strange and eerie object orbiting the planet.  And to be quite honest… I’m baffled. However, I do have an opinion though, but I could be easily swayed to cross the proverbial floor on this one. I’ll share it with you at the end of the article,

First up, the case for the thermal blanket.

During the STS-88 Mission in 1998, the space shuttle Endeavour would take the first American module, the Unity node, to the International Space Station for installation.  As we know now, the mission was a success, but there were a couple of hindrances along the way.  One of these hindrances being the loss of a Trunnion Pin Thermal Cover that had floated off during installation.  A video recorded by Endeavor has been released, showing the “Thermal Blanket” falling away from the shuttle.  That wasn’t the only thing to “get away” during this mission, the loss of the thermal cover was in fact the third such object, a socket tool and an access panel had preceded it. However, it would be the thermal cover that would cause the most disruption, albeit in the eyes of the Ancient Astronaut Theorists.

That’s it. Short and to the point.  The evidence, in a nut-shell, for the mysterious object being a “Thermal Blanket”.

Black Knight Satellite 2

Now, over to the case for the alien probe.

The Ancient Astronaut Theorists’ case begins, not in 1998 as you would suspect, but in 1899, strangely enough.  Let me explain.  Back then, Nikola Tesla, famed Serbian engineer (both electrical and mechanical), physicist, and inventor, while running a series of tests, heard, what was described as ‘strange rhythmical sounds’ emitting from a radio receiver. After more tests and much contemplation, Tesla concluded that the sounds were not natural, and might be under intelligent control, perhaps coming from Mars. In 1927 Jorgen Hals, a Norwegian civil engineer and amateur radio enthusiast, while using a shortwave receiver noticed that his signals were being reflected back to him. Today, we call these LDEs or Long Delayed Echos the cause of which is yet unknown. Ancient Astronaut Theorists believe that the Black Knight Satellite is the cause of the rhythmical sounds and returned signals.  Since these early days there have been reports from Russia, U.S. and Europe of alien satellites in Earth’s orbit.

Now, where does the 13,000 years come from?

Well, Duncan Lunan, a Scottish author, researcher, and broadcaster from Troon, in 1973 released an article claiming to have deciphered a hidden radio message sent by an alien probe that was orbiting our moon.  He had found this message while reviewing research into Long Delayed Echos, conducted in the 1920s by Dutch and Norwegian researchers.  Translated, the message provides directions to the planet Epsilon Bootis, where it’s claimed the probe originated from.  Lunan, from the instructions of the decoded message, realised that the star system on the map he had drawn was unlike the star system in the sky at that time, 1972. He was then able to trace the star system as described in the message back 13,000 years.  However, in 1976 Lunan withdrew his theory only to re-interpret part of it in 1998.

There you have it.  Both cases. Very much summarized.

Where am I in all of this!

I very much believe that we are not alone in the universe.  To think otherwise would be, in my opinion, conceited.  Do I think we have been visited by extra-terrestrials?  Yes, I do.  The proof to me lies in the advanced engineering of things such as the sphinx, the great pyramids, the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Teotihuacan and Puma Punka, to name but five of many such wonders.  Engineers today marvel at these awesome structures, and openly admit that they are mystified as to how they could be built back then, citing that we do not have the means to replicate some of these marvels here in the 21st century. But do I believe that the images shown in this article depict an alien probe sent here to surveil us? I hesitantly say “No”. I feel the NASA video footage does lend credence to it being a thermal cover, at least comparing it to the image in the second photograph shown above.  As for the image in the first photograph, I’m not too sure.  But knowing that there are approximately 500,000 pieces of space debris being tracked as they orbit the Earth, I would need stronger proof to side with the Black Knight Satellite theory.

Buyer Beware – Finding a Medium

Picture of a blue neon medium sign saying Psychic

Yes, I believe that there are real mediums out there.  Have I ever met any? Sure I have, and it never ceases to amaze me the accuracy of the information they are passing on.  But those mediums are not the focus of this article, we’ll discuss the awesome work they do another day.  My focus this week are the charlatans. Those who claim they are the real thing. Some of whom are convincing, some of whom, not so much. Thankfully, I’ve never been in such an emotional state that I would be easily fooled. But I have seen those who are, and it’s heartbreaking.  Tune into any medium’s television show and you’ll see an audience full of people in this emotional state, and no different from individuals who have private readings.  They are all there for a reason…They believe that the medium, be they psychic or otherwise, has the ability to put them in touch with their departed loved ones, and some can, and some will.  And I’m sure that most, if not all, of these people have told themselves that they won’t be fooled, and have committed to not revealing anything about their loved one to the medium without them first bringing it up. But they inevitably do.  Because they need to believe.  They need to connect.  They need to be forgiven. They need to be reassured.  Whatever the reason(s), they will unconsciously give it up.  They are vulnerable.

I once watched a medium walk on stage, sweep their hand over a section of the audience while saying, “I have someone here whose passed… An older male… His name begins with the letter ‘P’… I feel back pain.. His passing had something to do with his back.”  A teary-eyed woman puts her hand up, and says, “My Bob died of lung cancer, it could be him!” The medium goes on to ask a couple of more questions/statements to appear to ascertain that she has the right person for whom the message is intended.  “Bob was a tall man. Taller than you. Wasn’t he.”  “He loved you very much, but didn’t always show it. Is that right”. “There were times when your relationship wasn’t always a bed of roses. Is that correct?”   “I feel a heaviness in the chest area, a shortness of breath.” “He lost a lot of weight didn’t he.  He’s showing me this.” The medium continues with this line of questioning, and then finishes with “Bob wants you to know that he is happy on the other side, and that he is watching over you.”  The audience erupts into fervent applause, while the bereaved woman sobs uncontrollably into a handkerchief.

How many of you when reading the questions above, saw them for what they truly were?  Generalized statements utilized to deceive.  Pretty easy to spot wouldn’t you say. No, not through the fog of grief they’re not.  For anyone reading this who may be in that unfortunate circumstance, or may just not be seeing it, let’s break these questions/statements down:

“His name begins with the letter ‘P’” – Bob doesn’t start with the letter P, neither does Robert.
“Bob was a tall man. Taller than you. Wasn’t he.” – There is a greater chance that a man is taller then a woman.
“He loved you very much, but didn’t always show it. Is that right”. – Men, for the most part, are less likely to show emotion.
“There were times when your relationship wasn’t always a bed of roses. Is that correct?” – All relationships have their ups and downs.
“I feel a heaviness in the chest area, a shortness of breath.” “He lost a lot of weight didn’t he.  He’s showing me this.”  – The symptoms stated by the psychic are totally correct, but only because the widow admitted up front that her Bob had died of lung cancer.  Even the symptoms are fairly generalized.

Pretty obvious now what’s going on here, is it not?

As I said, and I want to make this clear, not all mediums are charlatans, but they are out there.  So, what can you do to protect yourself?

Here are a few tips:

  1. Give yourself time to grieve. No matter how much it hurts, you will get through this. Surround yourself with family and friends.  Even consider visiting a grief counselor.
  2. When the time is right, and before going to a psychic medium, find out from other people about their experience with the medium, but don’t get caught up in their enthusiasm as they may have been fooled.
  3. If the psychic medium asks a lot of leading questions, then chances are they are not the real thing.
  4. Beware of mediums who give you vague or general messages and do not provide accurate evidence.
  5. If arranging a private reading, ask for a money back guarantee. A reputable psychic medium should not have a problem with this.  After all, mediums are humans too.  They may be having an off day.
  6. Take a friend with you who is not emotionally invested and will ensure that you do not unwittingly give anything away, and at the very least can let you know if you did.
  7. Let the medium do most, if not all the talking.  Only verify that which is true, and do not try to fit a square peg into a round hole.  If what you are being told is wrong, don’t make it fit.
  8. Take notes or if you have a friend with you, let them take the notes. Some mediums may allow you to record the session, some will even record it for you and forward it to your email address.

At the end of the day, finding a good psychic medium is no different than that of finding a good therapist.  Do your homework.

Ouija Board – Investigative Tool Or Portal To Hell

picture of a ouija board

The commercial genesis of the Ouija Board dates back to May 28, 1890, with the filing for its patent, which was issued to Elijah Jefferson Bond on February 10, 1891. Yet, its roots go as far back as China, circa 1100 AD where it was called ‘Fuji’, “planchette writing”. And used then as it is now, to communicate with Spirit, until it was forbidden during the Qing Dynasty.

What once fell from grace as a religious practice, and then reincarnated as a “parlour game” has been, and continues to be, the subject of much fear and scorn. Indeed, many organizations have spoken out against its use, with some groups going as far as to ban their followers from using it. The belief that this board, adorned with words, letters and numbers, and used in conjunction with a planchette, is responsible for such things as portal opening, possession, and demonic haunting, not only lies deep in Christian dogma, but is being hotly deliberated today among paranormal investigative groups.  And In this debate, there are no shades of grey.  Here, you are either ‘For’ or ‘Against” the use of the Ouija Board as an investigative tool.

For years I stood staunchly with those in opposition to its use, unable to be convinced that any good could ever come from employing such a dangerous and evil implement.  In my opinion, anyone that employed a Ouija Board was either a Satanist or extremely naive in their search for thrills.  That was, until after several years of investigating the paranormal, and using the various pieces of equipment associated with the modern-day search for the afterlife.  These tools generally fell under the category of ITC, (Instrumental Transcommunication Devices), a term coined by German Physicist Professor Ernst Senkowski for any electronic devices used to communicate with Spirit.  Armed with the KII, Ovilus, FLIR and digital recorders, to name but a few devices, my fellow WCPI team members and I would set about attempting to do this very thing, and on occasion, we were arguably successful in doing so.  This success mostly came by way of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) Sessions, with the capture of disembodied utterances on our digital recorders.  For those not familiar with what takes place during an EVP Session, I’ll attempt to enlighten you.

While using a KII meter, or a similar device, you would proceed to ask any Spirit present, to communicate with you by waving their hand over the meter, once for “Yes”, twice for “No”.  If the lights on the KII lit up, you would attempt to make certain determinations about who you are talking to by asking questions that could only be answered with a Yes or No.  For instance, “Are you a man?”, “Are you a Woman?”, “Are you an adult?”, so on and so forth.  When it came to names, you would slowly recite the alphabet, and note those letters that drew a “Yes” response.  All the while this is happening the session is being recorded on a camcorder and/or a voice recorder.  By the end of the session, you would, hopefully, have some information that you could verify through the client or by way of historical records.  Of course, there are many ways to conduct these types of sessions, and the preparation is more in-depth than is described here. But generally, they all boil down to the same thing; several living persons attempting to contact persons who are not, while using a device to facilitate the communication.  Hmm, does that sound familiar to you?  I’m sure it does, as it did to me. And with me, it begged the question, “Is there really a difference between what I am doing with these modern-day inventions, and those who use the Ouija Board?”  For the life of me, and try as I may to substantiate my dogged beliefs against its use, I could but only conclude that there was no difference.  There go, if using the Board is akin to using, say, a KII meter, then all investigators are susceptible to opening portals and becoming possessed by whatever happened to wander through.  And, by the same token, if using these modern-day devices lessen or eliminate the risk, then the same must be said of the Ouija Board.   In short, the Ouija Board can be used as a tool in today’s search for the afterlife, with the same probability of success and danger as that of any ITC device.

Having said that, because of the stigma attached to the Ouija Board, I would not make it part of my investigative toolbox.
